Perhaps dear friend, it might be good to revisit the purpose of suffering in our lives?
Whether we know it, or like it; God remains always in charge. Everything that happens, from the most insignificant to Life-Changing occurrences; and everyone that crosses our life’s path, happens because God’s “handprints” are on it.
Everything happens for 1 of 2 reasons
1. The Possible Glory of God
2. Our own Possible sanctification
Isaiah 43: 7 & 21 ““And every one that calleth upon my name, I have created him for my glory, I have formed him, and made him & This people have I formed for myself, they shall shew forth my praise”
Suffering too fits within these perimeters. Since mans “Fallen condition” humanity has had to suffer in various ways and to differing degrees. No one is exempted.
Take Up your Cross and Follow Me: Phil.2: 8 “And being found in human form he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even death on a cross Luke.9 :23 And he said to all, “If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. Mark.8: 34 And he called to him the multitude with his disciples, and said to them, “If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. Luke.9: 23 And he said to all, “If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. Luke.14: 7 Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me, cannot be my disciple.”
1Pet.4: 13 ” But rejoice in so far as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed.
Phil.1: 29“For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake, “
So suffering is going to happen. What to do with “it” then becomes the right consideration.
IF we moan and complain; not only is there no benefit; but the condition itself often worsens. or at least seems too. If, on the other hand we accept it as an opportunity given to us from God for His Glory [God is always Glorified when we accept and do His Divine Will], then we also aid our own sanctification; merit Grace and earn assistance for ourselves or others, for whom we can choose to offer up our suffering.
So from life’s minor irritations to life-endangering illness; everything can be put to a meaningful use. It’s our choice and God’s perfect Will. An opportunity for grace or an opportunity to just complain about it.
If one “discovers” that pain “does not help” it is because one does NOT fully understand prayer.
ALL prayers are ALWAYS”S answered; but God can day ‘NO!” as well as “yes” and also “”not now.” We cannot put God on our timetable; nor can we command God: God Commands us.
God Bless you,
Pat
